Suggestion: option to show only real radar coverage

Dear Ventusky team,

I would like to share a small suggestion about the radar layer. I understand that, where there is no ground radar, you fill the map with satellite data, and sometimes model data, so rain can be shown almost everywhere. This is useful for many people.

For me, though, this fill is often hard to trust. It can show more rain, or less rain, than what is really falling, and the shape of the rain often looks stretched or unclear.

Sometimes the real radar and the estimated rain are mixed together on the same map. The line between them is not clear, so the picture becomes messy and hard to read.

I would find it very helpful to have a setting to turn this fill off, and to see the radar only where real radar coverage exists.

Empty areas would be fine for me, because then I would know that what I see is measured.

I also think it would be very useful to show lightning together with the satellite layer. The satellite shows the clouds, and the lightning shows where storms are really active. Seeing both at the same time would help a lot.

I understand that these changes may take time.

This is only a suggestion, and I hope it can be useful.

Thank you very much :)

In the black circle, east of Girona, there is a large orange and red area over the sea, with values around 40 dBZ, far from the lightning. It is not clear how much of this is real radar and how much is estimated. This is where the two are mixed, and the line between them is not visible.

I understand what you mean, but we are not currently considering this. Adding lightning to the satellite layer is a good idea, and we will consider it.
