Cloud base

Ваши отзывы и предложения

Hi,

I am a bit confused about what you mean by cloud base. Today the cloud base for Rotterdam Airport should be between 3000 - 4000 feet according to your app. But in reality the METAR for Rotterdam (EHRD) gives broken clouds between 500 - 700 ft. In aviation the level of broken clouds is normally the cloud base. But what level do you refer at in your app?

We’re reporting exactly the same thing, but a model can never fully match reality. There’s clearly some very low cloud present there, which isn’t present a bit farther away—see, for example, the camera view, where the cloud layer isn’t that low and is roughly 1 km high, just as the model indicates: https://meteo3131.info/pwsWD/index.php

It is clear to me that a model can never fully match reality. But I have seen more often that the cloud base in your app is sometimes very much higher than reality, which made me to reach out to you.
The camera view that you refer to in your reply was made at 06:15h this morning which is more than 17 hours later, so I don't see the value. Moreover, I fail to see how you can see in this picture that the cloud layer is roughly 1 km high.
