We are currently embedding Ventusky maps on a public-facing operational dashboard and would like to request an enhancement to the embed functionality.
Request:
Please add (or officially document and support) the ability to force imperial units when using embedded maps—specifically allowing temperature to display in degrees Fahrenheit (°F) instead of Celsius.
Why this matters:
Embedded maps are often displayed on public screens or dashboards where users cannot change settings
In U.S. contexts, Celsius creates confusion for non-technical audiences
Consistent units are important for safety, operations, and decision-making (e.g., weather-related events, campus operations)
Suggested approach:
Support a URL parameter such as:
&units=imperial
that ensures:
- Temperature → °F
- Wind → mph
- Pressure → inHg
- Precipitation → inches
This would align well with other embed-based platforms that allow explicit unit control.
We appreciate the quality of Ventusky’s visualizations and believe this enhancement would significantly improve usability for institutional and operational deployments.
