CMC HRDPS Integration

Your feedback and suggestions

Hello, as a Canadian, I would greatly appreciate access to the local high-resolution HRDPS model, which is derived from the GEM but has a fine resolution of 2.5 km instead of the current 15 km. Neither the HRRR nor the NAM-CONUS is calibrated for Canadian territory, and their coverage is limited.

Do you mean a version that provides a 48-hour forecast? Will such a short time frame be sufficient for you?

High-resolution local 48-hour forecasts are more than sufficient for severe weather events such as thunderstorms, hail, freezing rain, snow, and others. The GPDS (GEM 15 km) is a global model, but we should at least have access to the RDPS (GEM 10 km) or the HRDPS (GEM 2.5 km), which are optimized and calibrated specifically for the Canadian climate and terrain.

Okay, thank you, we’ll take a look at it over time.
