The temperatures in north-central Canada (west of Hudson Bay, northern portions of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta and into the Northern Territories) have been extremely warm over the past month (60s-90s) and consistently warmer than the NE US where I live. It has been an unusual pattern where it has been warmer further north in these regions than areas just south of it. Some of it appears to be jet stream related, but not all of it (that does not seem to account for areas immediately south of that region being colder). I cannot find anything about it in the news and am having a hard time understanding what is happening there and why it isn't getting much attention. I've seen similar patterns in this region the past few summers, but not so early in the season and not with the flip flop of temperatures. Does anyone have any explanation of what is going on there?
