Why not a rain forecast, by model?
If rain and radar are shown on the same map it would give an indication of how accurate the model is, as compared to real, radar indicated, precipation.

It is pointless to display model-based precipitation on the radar map. On radar maps, we aim to provide data updated at minute intervals, not model data.
Although the snowfall limit is also derived from the model, we only use it to determine the altitude. The radar then helps confirm whether precipitation is actually occurring at that height.
Storms are indicated based on lightning data (not model data).
