Ventusky app now displays official warnings from national meteorological institutes

Ventusky

The Ventusky is expanding its features with the display of official meteorological warnings from around the world. Users now have access to up-to-date information about hazardous weather phenomena.

Ventusky collects data from all meteorological institutes worldwide that issue meteorological and hydrological warnings. This data is then unified and clearly presented directly in the app. Each warning includes a clearly defined validity period (from when to when the warning applies), a description of the expected situation, and an indication of its severity level.

Warnings are displayed on a dedicated map layer called Weather Warnings, where they are visually linked to specific areas and time periods. When issued, they also automatically appear for users selected location, allowing to instantly see whether hazardous weather is currently occurring or approaching a given place. In addition, users can set up notification delivery and will be informed about an active warning immediately when it is issued.

The display of meteorological warnings represents a key feature that significantly enhances the capabilities of the Ventusky app. Timely alerts for thunderstorms, strong winds, heavy precipitation, floods, and other extreme events help people better prepare for adverse conditions. This new functionality is crucial not only for protecting property, but above all for protecting human lives.

The functionality is currently available in our iOS and Android apps. On the website, warnings are available in the side panel for locations. They are currently being prepared for the map.
