Ventusky Uses AI to Predict Hail Probability Worldwide
A new layer that tells you when hail may strike
Ventusky now shows the probability of hail for any spot on the planet. Our goal is simple: keep people and their property safe. Accurate hail alerts mean cars can be moved under cover, crops can be protected, and outdoor plans can be changed in time.
One of the first of its kind
Few public tools offer a global hail forecast. We built ours from the ground up so users get early warnings that were impossible to find in one place before.
AI + historic data
The model was coded by the Ventusky team. It does not rely on an off‑the‑shelf or open AI service. We trained a machine‑learning model on decades of weather records, the model ingests GFS data every six hours and cross‑checks it against ICON and ECMWF runs. It evaluates more than a dozen meteorological variables to pinpoint the conditions that trigger damaging hail.
Free push notifications
The hail alerts cost nothing—even if you don’t subscribe to Ventusky.
Update cycle
Maps refresh four times a day; forecasts extend up to 14 days ahead, and confidence grows as the target date approaches.
Where can you find the new information? On the maps and in the notifications. See the steps below.
The map layer
- Open the Ventusky app or web map.
- In the layer list, open Thunderstorms → Hail probability.

Notifications
On mobile, go to Settings → Notifications and turn on Hail alerts.
- Delivery time – choose what time of day the alert should appear.
- Probability threshold – set the minimum hail chance (e.g., 30 %, 50 %) that triggers a push.
- Time frame – select the forecast window: today, next 12 h, 24 h, 48 h, or tomorrow.
