Ventusky v55: New Hurricane Tracker, Customizable Charts, and Wind Direction Display
Ventusky app for iOS and Android is getting several improvements with version 55. The main change is a redesigned Hurricane Tracker. The update also introduces customizable forecast charts, new direction display options, easier city selection, and customizable country borders.
New Hurricane Tracker
The redesigned Hurricane Tracker provides a clearer and more informative view of tropical cyclones around the world. It displays their current intensity, past and forecast tracks, and the forecast cone indicating uncertainty in the predicted path.
Intensity is now shown throughout the track, making it easier to see how a cyclone has developed and whether it is expected to strengthen or weaken.
The tracker is fully integrated with Ventusky’s weather maps. Hurricane tracks can be displayed directly over numerical weather model data, allowing you to explore forecasts for wind, wind gusts, pressure, precipitation, and other conditions around the storm. You can also compare hurricane tracks and forecast data across different weather models.
Over 40 Parameters in Forecast Charts
Forecast charts are now fully customizable. You can choose from more than 40 weather parameters and decide exactly which ones you want to display.
The available options range from essential information such as temperature, precipitation, and wind to more advanced meteorological parameters. This makes it possible to adapt the charts to different activities and levels of weather knowledge.
New Wind and Wave Direction Display
You can now choose how wind and wave direction is displayed in table and chart forecasts. Direction can be shown as an arrow, compass notation such as NW, degrees, or a combination of these formats.
You can change the display format in Settings, at the end of the Custom Units section. This allows you to choose between a simple visual display and precise values in degrees.
Faster City Selection and Custom Border Colors
City names displayed on the map are now interactive. Simply tap a city label to select the location and immediately view its forecast. This makes switching between cities faster and more direct.
You can also choose the color used to display country borders on the map. The option is available in Settings and can help make borders more visible across different map layers or better match your preferred map appearance.
Version 55 focuses on presenting weather information more clearly while giving you greater control over charts, maps, and forecast displays.
