I suggest a few layers and some improvements to existing layers in the website.
- Add new snowfall for past days to the snow depth map, currently it is available only for future days. The new snowfall for past days is available in the precipitation map, but it is just rainfall converted to centimeters, and uses colors not typical for snowfall and snow depth. Many countries do not separate snowfall from rainfall in weather observations, and thus we don't often know how much snow fell in a place in a day, month or winter season. Therefore such a map would be great.
- Add accumulation for one day, one week, one month and one year for precipitation.
- Add monthly and annual average temperature.
- Add monthly and annual temperature anomaly.
- Add annual precipitation anomaly.
- Add snowfall accumulation for one day, one week, one month and one "winter season" (for 1 July to 30 June in following year in Northern Hemisphere, calendar year in Southern Hemisphere).
- Would it possible to add various layers before days they are currently available? For example, ECMWF ERA5 reanalysis has temperature, precipitation and snow depth for every hour up to 1940. And would it be possible to add some more regional models? For example, high-resolution models for Russia, China, Japan, Australia, Africa and South America? And the main ICON global model is somewhat higher resolution in Europe tha other regions in zoom level 6 and higher. Could it also become possible to set default models? For example, currently the default model for North America is HRRR, but I always use ICON to see its maps because HRRR is too high resolution. It should be possible to set ICON as default there too. I would like to have various high-resolution snow depth models in different parts of the world.
- It would be nice to see a satellite image with clouds removed, to see snow cover.
- Webcams should display images for every day up to one year before, and on selected days (such as every 10 days) even up to 10 years before.
