Even Better Maps, New Cameras and UI update - that's v47
Version 47.0 is now live on every platform. It adds more map detail, hundreds of live webcams, and a fresh timeline. Below is a deep dive into each change and how you can try it.
One more step of map zoom
We added a brand new zoom layer. Pinch once more and the map switches from a regional look to true street level detail:
- In towns you now see individual houses, building outlines, street names, and bus stops.
- In the countryside hiking trails, bike paths, contour lines, and footbridges appear.
- Overlay clarity stays high even with radar, wind, or temperature layers switched on.
Why we built it: many of you asked for tighter zoom to plan bike rides, storm spotting routes, or simply to see if that rain band is about to reach your street. The new layer combines OpenStreetMap data with our own relief shading so you keep the familiar Ventusky look.

700+ new live webcams from WeatherSTEM
We partnered with WeatherSTEM, a weather station network founded in 2015 in Florida. Their goal is to blend real time weather, safety alerts, and STEM education.
Fast facts about WeatherSTEM
- Weather stations across 17 U.S. states, with the densest coverage in Florida.
- Each site streams high definition video, and minute by minute weather values such as temperature, wind, and other.
- Stations sit at schools, parks, farms, and emergency management offices so local communities can study and react to weather.
WeatherSTEM webcams now appear right inside Ventusky’s Webcams layer.
- 700+ new cameras. Most of them are in Florida, so coverage there is far richer.
- Station link: tap the link in the camera view to open its full station page with graphs, lightning strikes, and time lapse clips.
We’re glad to cooperate with WeatherSTEM and bring these data to Ventusky users!

A cleaner timeline UI
We re worked the time slider from scratch:
- Bold current slot: the exact time you are viewing glows orange so you never lose track.
- Day tabs: swipe sideways to jump days. A dot under the current time and day makes sure you always know where you are
