Isobars and more: Professional synoptic maps now on Ventusky

Ventusky

For several months now, contour lines have been available in our iOS and Android apps (see article). They can now also be viewed on our website, ventusky.com. In the settings section, you can choose from up to five types of contour lines. The most well-known are isobars, which display air pressure and clearly highlight areas with tightly packed lines, indicating a risk of strong winds. In addition to isobars, we also display contour lines for temperature at 2 m and at 850 hPa, dew point, and the 0 °C isotherm.

Together with the display of frontal systems and the centers of low- and high-pressure areas, Ventusky now offers full-fledged synoptic maps. Thanks to the base maps, users can see even more data at once in a clear and organized way — for example, a color temperature map combined with areas of dense isobars where windy conditions are expected, and the presence of frontal systems where precipitation or significant wind shifts may occur.

By adding isolines to the website, we are further transforming Ventusky into a professional platform for monitoring meteorological data. At the same time, we keep it fast and easy to use for everyday users who want a quick overview of the weather and potentially dangerous atmospheric phenomena.
